Poppy Montgomery is doing a REALLY good job!

I'm in the middle of watching this and she is REALLY good! I watched JK's 60 minutes interview in 1999 - but of course I don't know her personally or anything but I think that gave some real insight into her in her earlier years - and it just is AMAZING how much Poppy's mannerisms and and everything really line up with how I'd imagine JK might have been like back then. The mannerisms are just really accurate-looking, and the accent is excellent too!

I guess she was wasted on a procedural all those years!

i love poppy she's doing a great job

I agree I can't get over how good of a job she's doing.

Yes, even though she doesn't look like Rowling, she's doing a good enough job, that it becomes barely noticeable.

Me neither! I literally just CAN'T GET OVER IT. If only this movie was better maybe she could get an emmy nod! I have to admit, I'm very surprised she's so talented and expected this to be quite a spectacular case of miscasting (and that may be part of why I'm so impressed), but she Poppy somehow balances JK's actual mannerisms and how I'd expect her to act physically in these situations with the fact that this really isn't JK Rowling. I was really disappointed in the beginning of the movie, without Poppy, because the actresses were all acting like very socially ebullient children and not the kind of eccentric, quirky, rather messy Rowling I saw in those old interviews. But Poppy really has that eccentricity in there!

I'm waiting to watch it I just found out about it but I watched a second and she seems to be doing good, but how is the movie itself? Is it like the typical Lifetime movie?

The Big One - 7/10

Unfortunately, it is rather typical tv movie fare. It kind of does a few cheesy things by inserting supposed "inspiration" for the books into her life, but it's doubtful things actually happened that way. Aside from that, it does at least seem to follow JK's actual timeline of life. There are a few moments that are actually quite lovely though, and I think it's worth watching for those and Poppy's performance alone.

Of note, is that it's not really like other lifetime movies, necessarily. It's more like a hallmark movie, though better than their usual movies, which are usually quite bad. I think the movie is really just worth watching for fun and Poppy's performance.

LOL, I guess it is more lifetime movie than I gave it credit for. To be fair, Lifetime also seems to have a vendetta against the female species too for some reason, always portraying us as murderous ho's and whatnot!

I think she did brilliantly! Bravo, Poppy!!!

I just saw this last night and was skeptical with it being a Lifetime movie and all... I must say though that I was very happily surprised by the quality and how well Poppy Montgomery acted. It was superb! It was a wonderfully sweet and empowering story. Not the usual fare I go for and I rarely cry or shed a tear for these types of films and I did with this film. It really showcased all of Rowlings' struggles and wins. I loved it.

Poppy was perfectly case for the role of J.K. She played her well and I also noticed how Poppy had the mannerisms down well.
