Why was it called 'White Heat'?

Maybe I missed some crucial bit of dialog, but it seems a strange title for a sociological drama. White Heats sounds more like the title of a detective drama than a period piece.

According to wikipedia:

The series shares its title, (taken from a 1963 speech by Harold Wilson proclaiming the technological revolution), with Dominic Sandbrook's White Heat: A History of Britain in the Swinging Sixties.

Yes but the title of the book is a reference to a speech by 1960s British Prime Minister Harold Wilson, the speech was about how the white heat of technology was going to transform Britain,Wilson was seen as a modern technocratic figure compared to the grouse shooting upper class tories.
