I Just Saw This...Don't Make My Mistake By Desecrating Your Time, Too

So many clichés were at work in this. Clichés are not a bad thing, nor is an unoriginal storyline IF it's all executed well. In the case of this movie, it was not. There was the 'nobody knows we're at this place' cliché. The 'college kids are stupid' cliché. The 'military guy is nuts' cliché. The 'let's break into this place, even though there's a big frickin' lock keeping us out' cliché. The 'Daddy comes to save the day, but he actually had my mom killed' cliché. 'All the kids are killed except for the lead' cliché. Heck, I wish Ben killed some of the clichés in between killing the kids. Speaking of Ben (Gonzalo Menendez), he was the only character with any sort of development. All joking aside, Gonzalo Menendez did a good job pulling off that character. In this movie, he was the best actor - easily. I was on his side. Please kill these annoying imbeciles. Eduardo was the MOST irritating. He was a beta acting like an alpha.

I gave this movie a 2-star rating on the strength of Menendez's acting. Unfortunately, the others inability to act caused me to subtract stars.

the 'nobody knows we're at this place' cliché

But don't teens seeking thrills often do things behind their parents' backs in real life?

The 'college kids are stupid' cliché

Isn't it true that academically smart youths are often ignorant or unskilled when it comes to life in the day-to-day grind outside academia?

The 'military guy is nuts' cliché

But aren't ex-military types more likely to suffer PTSD than the average citizen, not to mention be skilled with weapons and have experience in life-or-death situations?

The 'let's break into this place' cliché

This was the catalyst for the havoc that ensues and, as such, there's no movie without it. Besides, partying youths are more prone to do dubious things that people with common sense wouldn't do.

big frickin' lock keeping us out' cliché

You can attribute this to the law of reverse psychology (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reactance_(psychology)).

The 'Daddy comes to save the day, but he actually had my mom killed' cliché

No such cliché exists; and you know it.

All the kids are killed except for the lead' cliché

If the 'final girl' trope wasn't included, you'd probably complain about that too.

Ben (Gonzalo Menendez), he was the only character with any sort of development

Actually, most of the characters are effectively fleshed-out, which is a welcome surprise, plus the story is a little more intricate than the set-up suggests, as explained by chet19 in this thread https://moviechat.org/tt1977919/Desecrated/58c7da26f9fcca09a0e87ee8/The-desecrater-killer-spoilers.

I'm not saying "Desecrated" is great cinema, but it delivers the goods for those in the mood for backwoods brutality and don’t mind low-budget issues. It’s certainly superior to Haylie Duff’s “Backwoods” from seven years prior.
