This is in my opinion Swedens best movie of all times...and ive seen alot of swedish movies. The choreography is fantastic and the actors is for the first time truly excellent...everyone in their roles...im so damn impressed, especially of Pernilla August that makes the role of her lifetime. I also think that u have to be from Sweden or some of the Nordic countrys to fully understand this movie and be able to assimilate it.

I didn't note any nuances in this film that wouldn't transcribe to any other developed country in Europe in the 1970s. There's little specifically Swedish about it, which helps the issues of government/police corruption, prostitution and child care come into focus for those of us outside Sweden.

A well-made film, though the start is very slow and difficult to fathom, the end predictable and two-hours-twenty is far too long - but still worth the watch.
