nude scenes ?

Some earlier TS & HF film versions had the actors swimming nude. Johnny Whitiker and Jeff East for example I believe. Still managed a pg rating.

Are you frackin' kidding me? This is 21st century, not the 1970's. I doubt that the characters will even be barefoot! Anyway, the 1973 adaptation of Tom Sawyer didn't just manage a PG rating, it was rated G even with the "nudity". I guess it just goes to show that people from back then weren't so prudish after all. In fact, no one even felt it worth mentioning.

Yeah dude. You are so right on. Probably wont be any shirtless scenes neither. But ya gotta admit. Seeing jake t Austin showing some major skin would generate some nice box office. Lol

reply

Why wouldn't they have any shirtless scenes, or go barefoot? That has been happening more often in today's movies.

"LOL" is so over used but that line seriously made me LOL
Because it's SO true.
I watch older films and see things that would NEVER happen in films nowadays.
Child nudity is a great example. I watched a horror movie from the 70's the other day and the daughter in the film is shown topless in the shower. Not that she had much to show (she was like 10yo) but it was so random, unnecessary and WEIRD to see I couldn't believe it.
Imagine if in 2012 they asked a 10yo actress to actually be nude in a shower scene? It would be the scandal of the year!

Well, at least it looks like it'll be more faithful to the books than Disney's last version almost twenty years ago.

Looking at the trailer they seem to be barefoot pretty much all the time. That's a peeve have: Tom and Huck wearing shoes...when such a point is made (in Tom Sawyer) that they NEVER wore shoes unless they had to.

reply

Considering interviews I've heard Joel Courtney give, I doubt it. And it's good too. Not like it would really add anything. Maybe in past eras, it'd be okay but now, it'd just be unnecessary scandal. I don't see why it's either "watered down" or nude scenes anymore. It's like we equate compelling stories with violence and nudity and if there's none of that, it's a kiddie movie? Maybe it's that attitude that makes it that way.

And the award for Creepiest Person in History goes to...ointia. I hope Jake and Joel don't read these boards any time soon. People like you are the reason some celebrities are afraid of their fans.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.

reply

Well the actors are twenty, so it's not as though people will think that the actors are too young to do it (i.e. inappropriate). As long as it fits with the storyline and isn't unnecessary to the story telling.
