Goof with the news report?

How can the plane be expected to crash into the Pacfic when it runs out of fuel? It was on autopilot to Japan, and planes always carry reserve fuel, meaning it would have been well inland before crashing.

If it's as they said then it never had enough fuel to make it there to begin with. They should have said it was going to be shot down over the Pacific.

I thought the same thing.

It could have enough fuel to fly over japan but not enough to reach russia.

A plane from the US west coast can often follow a flight path that's basically a long curve up north across the Aleutian Islands (Alaska) before curving south towards Japan.

Meaning that if they don't land, the plane will graze the East coast of Japan and continue, not towards Russia as that would demand a SHARP TURN at this point, but back to the Pacific Ocean. I don't have an actual round globe here with me, but most likely - if it was on this flight path - it would run out of fuel somewhere between Japan and the Philippines and disappear in the Pacific.

There is more then one tank, but pilot is dead so he can't hit the button to use other tanks

Is Japan near Russia?

reply

Don't you feel it's goof a plane can catch a live tv broadcast from ground ??

reply

Technically the news broadcast wasn't really airing on the plane. They were already dead so they're in limbo and they see the news that's being aired on the ground.
