What's the deal with the test tubes of hair? Also, in the beginning Lance is on the phone talking about the eye color being all wrong and to just gouge out the eyes?

i think it was a red herring. he was talking about making/selling dolls, and the hair samples were for the dolls

So it says it's 97 min but I just got the dvd and it's only an 1hr19min long. So are we missing 18mins of characters and story. Who are jenn, Dustin, Christine and Chisato. They are never in the film but are listed. Please help if you know.
