Three things that are odd

1. What happened to Molly? Last we heard, she is taking a trip to India, then we don't see her for almost a season. Then it seems she doesn't live with Rita anymore. We know she doesn't have a job, can't even fill a job application and presumably broke. By season 3, it was indicated she has her own apartment now. What happened in between?

2. What happened to the eldest son's sandwich shop? It was never properly addressed. Suddenly we are told that Ricco got a new job in Season 2. What about the shop?

3. Danish people don't visit their parents once they leave home? All Rita's children live in Copenhagen, which is not that big. Is it really that difficult to meet for lunch or a dinner after work? or get together on weekends? Rita's empty nest syndrome seemed a bit exaggerated to me.

I really liked Molly in season 1 and missed her in season 2. I guess we're supposed to fill in the blanks of the in betweens. I was happy to see her return in the 3rd season and it seemed she was living with a boyfriend in the apartment. I was hoping there would be more story with her...but it never came.

This too left me scratching my head in confusion. In season 2, there was no mention of the shop and he's suddenly working with kids. With this and Molly, the writers showed how lazy & sloppy they could be.

I love her relationship with Jeppe the most and anytime he popped up I was just as happy as Rita to see him lol. I think the absence of her kids was more of a budget thing than to do with the story. I got the feeling they really stripped down things in season 3 to where you only saw characters from the school and not of Rita's personal life as much as previous seasons.

I would have preferred more of a balance between the two like in season 1 & 2...Rita's family life and relationship with her kids was intriguing and left me wanting more...but I think this was a show produced on a shoestring budget....at least it looked that way to me....Sadly, I don't expect to see a season 4...but i'm keeping my fingers crossed. All in all, I am a bit disappointed with season 3. I also feel that they have to cut corners because of budget reasons. Even though Netflix stepped in and financed it, I am guessing the funding was probably much smaller than previous seasons.

Season 3 story line is much more singular and bare-bone, not to mention a bit unrealistic. The ending was depressing and unnecessary. I hope they get a season 4 so Rita can be redeemed.

In season 1 & 2 you can see they filmed in various locations around Denmark, which I loved if only to see the sights, but in Season 3, most scenes were stuck only with the school or Rita's house...sure signs of budget issues.

I completely agree season 3 was lacking and I was overall disappointed with it as well, especially when compared to the first 2 seasons.

Season 3 did have the funniest scene of the entire series though...where Hjordis dressed up as Rita and hooked up with Uffe in the classroom. That was hysterical.

I also agree the ending was unrealistic and that Rita wouldn't have just walked away from her job and the kids just so they can have their basement renovated with the budget given. Also, the Mayor clearly knew that she purposely told the kids to fail the test to get the budget....so realistically speaking, they wouldn't even have got that money anyway....The mayor would just have the school retake the test.

It's like Rita just gave up and that was completely out of character. I think she would have said F it to the budget and fixed up that basement herself. But to just walk away from her job and the school she loved?! Pfft....I do hope it returns for another season.

I went to Mille Deneson's Facebook page and saw she answered people's queries about season 4 and she replied that she doesn't know, but she hopes it comes...If I see any news i'll come back and post it here!

I just finished season 2 and I also missed Molly, her character adds a more human/warm element to the show and was disappointed she wasn't there in season 2...now I find out she's largely missing in season 3 also :\

Ricco's shop failing isn't surprising, it wasn't doing well in the first season either but yeah it was pretty sloppy, not even a line about it failing before revealing he had a new line.

I'd say 3 would depend on dynamics, I know I rarely see my parents (maybe 3 or 4 times a year) and call/email (briefly) once every 2 weeks or so...just nothing to talk about.

I kept wondering about the kids as well, but didn't Molly inherit some money from the grandma? I would travel too! But I'd like to see Molly find a career eventually since they showed her struggles in season1. Rico it was weird they didn't show much of his home life with the baby, or what he is doing now for work. They did all come for dinner that one night, a touching moment she looked up& saw them in the window laughing& cooking together. They always say ritas a mess but she seems to have raised her kids well&kept a stable home& job she was really good at. I think she's closest to the youngest one& that is still shown.

Hjørdis has her own "miniseries" per IMDB. It's filmed at the same studio as Rita but Mille Dinesen isn't in it.

I saw a clip of that online. I just can't bring myself to want to watch without Rita around. Hjordis is a great secondary character, but not enough to lead a show. Mille Dinesen and her interactions with everyone made the show for me.
