Did they even try?

I already expected this movie to be mediocre, but this one is just making me crazy.

Did they even try to find a teenage person who remotely looks like James Marsden? Heck, it would have been better if they'd have just had him shave his beard, add a little extra makeup and play his younger self! It's really annoying. At this point I'm just trying to go with the idea that they are separate people. It's easier to watch that way!

I really enjoyed the book and I truly wish they'd have done better with their selection of cast. I honestly don't mind that parts of the book are missing, or changed! OK, I'm done ranting!

What do you think about the cast selection?

reply

Haha I came on here just to say the exact same thing you did. He could've played himself.

reply

It is so distracting how different they look. I came here to see what other people thought.

Paul walker was originally cast, so they may have cast young Dawson to look like him. After he died they recast old Dawson.

reply

But the young Dawson (Luke Bracey) doesn't look like Paul Walker either. Well, at least I don't think so. 

reply

Even still if Paul Walker were playing the young Dawson they look nothing alike.
I rather enjoyed the movie but was a bit bothered by this huge flaw. I mean don't get me wrong the younger Dawson was handsome, but he just had a different nose and facial appearance than the older Dawson. It just didn't fit.

i keep thinking that dawson and the cousin should have swapped place. The cousin has the same smirky smile as james marsden (and walker)... At least when in carachter as Bobby... Not as Aaron.
