SPOILER: About the ending

I think I had watched way too many Nicholas Sparks movies because I knew for sure that someone who matters will die in the end. All his movies (or all the movies I have seen) involve death at some point in the movie, mostly towards the end.

And did anyone predict the ending? I mean, I haven't read the novel but as soon as the doctor said her son needs a new heart and then next scene was him driving towards the train, I knew he would die and her son would get his heart. And you?

Weird though that she wasn't able to connect the dots right away. But okay, I get it.
