1992...seemed more like 1952

The casting of this movie was too jarring for me to even finish it but I was also perplexed by why 1992 looked like 1952. Also when the main guy goes home the inside of his house and his drunken father look like they are straight out of a saloon in the Wild West. Very odd.

I was wondering the exact same thing! It seemed like the past story was in the 60s but current story was present day.

The timeline was jarring.

In 1992 there was hip-hop, grunge, techno-dance and Bill Clinton on the verge of the presidency. This film gave me none of that feeling.

It's that man again!!

Then again there was a scene where young Amanda was wearing very modern looking yoga pants/athletic tights. Were those even in existence 20 years ago?

I noticed that, too! I was in high school at that time, and there is no way she would have been wearing capris back then. Those really didn't start to make a comeback until maybe 2000.

I was also surprised that none of the dresses in 1992 had those tiny flowered prints that were so popular back then. I feel like almost every picture from my ring dance in '94 had those.

At least, she did wear a scrunchy. That would have been accurate at the time.

Exactly! What was that car that they were going to the prom with?!!

Hoes love to call other hoes, Its a hoe hierarchy.

It may have been to highlight the fact that they were out in the sticks. Small towns often feel like they are stuck in time.
