Ironic, what they did with the baby

The human baby is itself an automata - visual effect wise :) The later shot, where the baby opens her eyes, is CGI. Oh, the irony!

Yea, when I saw the baby open her eyes, I thought "isn't she too young for that?" But I don't have kids, so I wasn't entirely sure.

reply

its a baby not a damn puppy they are born able to open their eyes.

reply

Able, yes. But newborns tend to keep their eyes closed because they're not used to the light and it hurts their eyes.

reply

My son opened them in his first hours of being born.

Human babies start looking around a few minutes after birth. They don't have the muscle strength and coordination in their necks to turn their heads much but they can and do look around.

In the first scene where we see the baby with Rachel in the hospital bed the baby keeps her eyes closed. Later on the landing for the crane she still has her eyes closed which is expected as they are outside in bright sunlight. The baby opens her eyes when she's riding inside in a well shaded part of the truck with her parents.
