Did you have some kind of financial stake in this film?
Are you kidding me?
So your saying that, in order to be outraged by this behavior I have to have some kind of stake in the film?
My outrage was pointed not only at the 37 1-star ratings but also the 27 10-star ratings and towards the other 100 people who voted in between!
How about this...how about if I'm outraged because I'm an idealist who thinks how nice it would be if everyone just voted on each movie based on an honest appraisal of the film. That's not to say that there aren't going to be some 1's and some 10's because everyone has different tastes but, at least then, its a good-faith average of what the population REALLY thinks.
'Yes'...Di Nero has had some really questionable (i.e. crappy) rolls over the last 10 years, and 'Yes' he also recently chose to open his mouth in a very highly emotionally charged political fight but neither of which has ANYTHING to do with this film.
I'm the first to say that it could suck and given a few of Di Nero's choices over the years I would say you could support this assumption (Rocky and Bullwinkle anyone???). But what about Raging Bull and Midnight Run?
Look...I'm not saying that this kind of ratings fixing crap hasn't been going on for years. I was with this site 20 years ago when Star Wars had something like 1 Billion 10 star ratings (you think they used robots???)...and then there was the time when the fans of the Dark Knight started trying to get people to vote 1 star on the Godfather movies and the the Shawshank Redemption (along with a 10 for Dark Knight) in order to manipulate the film into being the "Greatest Movie Ever".
How about we stop trying to stroke our own egos, prop up the ticket sales of crap films and punish celebs we don't like and start giving some real honest rankings so that people who haven't seen a film can look at them and decide if they want to see it?
SO WHAT if the film you love dearly is averaging 6.2 stars...does it gall you that much that your beloved film is considered average (or worse) by the rest of the world? Who cares...its still your favorite film even if everyone else hates it. Have some F'ing individuality people and embrace the things you love regardless of what others think.
Yes...it will mean that you can't give EVERY film you like a 10-star rating and every film you don't really care for a 1 but the only way the star rating has ANY value at all is if the majority of people voted honestly on THAT FILM's MERITS and not a myriad of other superfluous BS.
Its just my opinion but I don't think its that crazy to wish for.

I laughed all the way through the film and I find Leslie Mann absolutely adorable. The wedding scene was fantastic, everybody squirmed for a MINUTE. I needed a laugh, and it hit my sense of humor perfectly, and I gave it a rare 10 for a comedy. I did however warn my friends away, because I am not so sure if it will click with their sense of humors. I never rate a film until after I see it.
