Overpopulation

People used to have tons of kids up until the last century because they would be lucky if even half of them survived. And a lot of ppl were farmers and had to breed a workforce for their farm. These old examples are not the case anymore. The world is overpopulated now and we are running out of natural resources and polluting them at the same time. There is no need for anyone to have 20 kids in this day and age for God's sake! These people don't come across as very intelligent or aware of their selfishness.
Put a plug in it or start swallowing PLEASE!

At least these people are able to provide for their many children. What about the mothers out there that have seven, eight, ten kids, all with different fathers that are supported by welfare?

They are able to support that many children thanks to a reality TV show that pays them a lot of money. Before the show started, they were living in a tiny rundown house that had only one working bathroom. The show came along in the nick of time. That's because Jim Bob had just lost a senate race and was out some $250,000.

It doesn't matter if the parents are millionaires or on welfare, money is not the issue. You need to read my post more carefully as I was talking about the stain that our current WORLDWIDE overpopulation is putting on our planet. Whether you take your welfare cheque and go buy a dozen apples for your dozen kids or you buy those apples with a platinum visa for your dozen kids, your still putting a strain on the planet because even more space has to be allocated for more apple orchards, farming is bad for the environment already and those disentary kids are gonna digest those apples and poop them into our waterways. Now, I feel I have to make this obvious to you, apples are an analogy (apples = resources) and I am not literally speaking of apples. It has nothing to do with welfare. I don't understand how you came to that after reading my original post.

Well said! Thank you! The fact that this show exists, the fact that people watch it and like it, and the fact that this ignorant selfish family doesn't plan on slowing down any time soon is disgusting!

I'm glad that most of the comments on this board are aware of overpopulation and are not happy about it. Knowing that there are quite a few people are aware of the problem gives me hope for a population slowdown or even reverse.
Maybe we need a plague :-)

I honestly hope so.
We really need a large portion of humanity to die off. And by the way, in no way do I hold myself above death en masse. If I end up being one of the people in the death path, so be it.

What bothers me also I am sure they have more children simply because the show exist for them. Years ago people did have large families to support the farms their family owned, or other business's like the previous poster stated. Hence their taxes were low. Now this is not the case and people like these folks are just using resources more then anybody but are still paying very low taxes. Something should be done about that.

Ya something should be done but I don't know what, because when China tried to curb their population, everyone started having just one child but they all chose to keep the male child and kill off the females. So now all these guys are grown up and they have no prospect of getting a girlfriend/wife unless the guy is rich.
I don't have a good answer to curbing population besides war or pestilence, which are horrible answers.

I have seen several posts about farm families having many children to help work the farm, which is true, but there is also the strict Catholic families who followed the no birth control rule. I grew up in a small town Catholic parish in the 60's, and there were quite a few parish families who had 10-11-12-15 kids. Those families generally were poor, but hard-working good families (on the outside). No welfare, the parent's generation for the most part did not believe in government charity.

Ya, they may not use tax payer money ie: welfare, and someone said that earlier on this thread, about having money to have a thousand kids. But my point is that they are using up the earth's resources and adding more pollution to the world. In these matters, money can't fix that. I'm saying that the earth is being majorly stressed by the overpopulation. So when a super bug plague hits, or the air and water is so polluted it's unusable, or when GMO crops fail worldwide and there's drought, wether you are on welfare with your 20 kids or are rich and live in Bel Air with your 20 kids no one will have food, water, etc.
Money isnt the solution to a planet this stressed.
When sh!t goes bad, it will go bad for everyone.
That's why I'm saying EVERYBODY should curb their irrational need to breed. People breed out of selfishness, 'poor me, my life is empty without children' - KNOCK IT OFF AN FIND ANOTHER PURPOSE!
I hope the antibiotic superbug plagues hit the Duggar types first because they're selfish a$$holes.

Ya really! I was raised Catholic yet as an adult I realized how stupid the whole thing is. No contraception or abortion, good grief! I imagine so many of these children grew up feeling unwanted.
This catholic rhetoric is as bad as the Mslim rhetoric.

Thanks families with 20 kids but the Muslims already THINK they have the god's army thing covered.
I swear. There are a lot of Christians out there that are as stupid and backwards as jihadist Muslims.
