actors and non-actors?

The Frederic Bourdin character is listed as being played by Adam O'Brien but the cast list also lists Frederic himself. Without sounding like an idiot, I would like to know who is the actual people and who isn't?
Is the Frederic being interviewed him and the man in the reconstructions Adam the actor? What about the footage of him in jail? The real Frederic or actor?

reply

All the people that are being interviewed in the movie are the actual people. The guy telling the story is the actual creep that stole the identity of Nicholas. The footage of him in jail is authentic as well.

The actors are only used for flashbacks that are recreated. For example, when the police find the 'kid' in the phone booth in Spain in the beginning of the movie, the guy sitting in that booth is an actor, not the real guy. All the flashbacks that are obviously not real recorded footage from the past is played by actors. Other examples: the images of the guy in the office at night calling American authorities, the arrival of the guy in the shelter in Spain. Those are actors.

Thank you for your reply. The actor looked so much like the man himself that it completely threw me.

But if you look carefully at the nose you can see it's two different people. The actor in the re-enactments has a much broader nose than the realy guy.
