The Twist in This Story Floored Me

I thought this was a great film. I just didn't see the family murder implication coming. But, it explains why the family was so accepting. If this wasn't a real story, I would never have believed it.

I was nearly certain that it was going to end with the family actually being guilty. That would have been an excellent story. Can you imagine -- this smartass imposter thinks he's got it made and then ends up in a twisted family of killers?

Unfortunately that's not what we got, but still the implication is interesting I guess. I could have sworn that last shot was gonna be the body being found. Grrr.
Such a tease.

What I've got in my head you can't buy, steal or borrow. I believe in live and let live.

It would have been amusing to have the guy end up with a family like the one in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre but alas, no.

Instead we get a twisted reptile preying on vulnerable people.

After watching this documentary I thought to myself "What an excellent idea for a horror film"

yeah I thought it was creepy,, but devilishly good at the same time if that makes any sense

are you going to bark all day little doggie,, or are you going to bite

The family was messed-up, but there was little to support murder, so that was so fake. I hated that twist.

The twist was that they really wanted to believe he was their kin. I wish they didn't bother with the murder angle.

Lol you completely missed the point of the ending...

This doco only really pulled me in in the last 20mins. At the same time it was a cheat, because there was nothing of substance. No body was found in the backyard.

I didnt really like the story being told from Frederic's pov either. For one he is a pathological liar, and two the way they were really putting him in the spotlight was kinda off putting.

You know these were actors in this "documentary", right?

reply

Actors were only used in the reenactments; the individuals in all of the interviews were all of the actual people involved.

reply

??? What film were you watching?
There are two films about this REAL life story,
One is called The Imposter which is a documentary that interviews the ACTUAL family, authorities and people involved. (That's what we're talking about here)
Then there's a film called Chameleon which has all actors portraying the real people

reply

The reinactments of previous events used actors obviously, but not in the filmed interviews.

In about the first 10 mins I suddenly had a feeling that the mother was involved somehow. Then I felt bad for thinking it, because these people have gone through a lot. But then when it was implied in the film I felt really weirded out.
