Any factual data? It was confirmed he had cigarrette burns and other signs of torture...

Probably most of what he said happened to him, indeed did. I'm guessing human trafficking, when he aged out they left him on the streets.

There were glances at his record towards the end when they got his ID back from Interpol. I thought I read/saw something about self harm.

He was likely abused by his parents or possibly his racist grandfather.

It seems clear to me that the story he gave the FBI agent of systemic torture of children by a group had happened to him. Beyond that it's anybody's guess.
