Why not choose a FRENCH CANADIAN family instead?

Don't you think he would have had a better chance at fully convincing a French Canadian family who had a missing son/brother, instead of a Texas family? I mean the guy had a STRONG French Canadian accent. You do NOT lose a southern accent and gain a STRONG Quebec accent in 3 years, if EVER!!! So unbelievable on so many levels.

He is actually French...I believe he had lived his life mainly in France and also Spain. It has been a while since I have read anything about him but I also recall him speaking four languages. I dont believe he considered himself fluent in Spanish..
If you have seen the movie as well, the actor that played him was actually French Canadian so I was initially confused by your post. Bourdin is French though. Please keep in mind that I do not speak French, do recognize a Canadian accent in general but can't pinpoint which providence, and I speak with what people could consider a southern accent..so you would for sure know more about that than me.

Th older gentleman with the blue and white shirt doing the solo interviews was the real Bourdin (French, not French Canadian), not the actor playing him in the reenactments...at least this is how I understood it.

I should probaably rewatch this (I loved it so another look at it would be great(.
The real Bourdin is French (possibly French Canadian, again I should rewatch to be certain)
The man doing the interviews is the real guy, and if I remember correctly he is also voicing the recreation voice as well) I remember this was a big deal about how it was edited , using his voice and sync'ing his voiceover.
So they are actually two different people, but using one voice.
Correct me if I am wrong though. The whole ordeal was just crazy. watching the documentry and the movie together sort of fills in gaps, that each missed out, so it gives a bigger picture.
It is so perplexing!
