WTF??

How could the family not know this was a grown man??

reply

Because they were low class blithering idiots!

Schrodinger's cat walks into a bar, and / or doesn't.

Spoiler: One of two reasons. Either they were so desperate to have their child back, safe and alive or they had murdered their son and this guy helped create the illusion that he was still alive. They didn't accept this stranger into their home because they were stupid. There were other motivating factors involved. A mother's desperation can do significant things. As can the need to cover up a crime and avoid prosecution.

Yeah, because four years later, with nobody making any accusations they were in desperate need of a cover-up...

No, it was reason number one. Think about it just a little.

No, but, there was a chance they could find the missing boy's body and it be link back to them. So, accepting this imposter would have closed the investigation and the imposter could have stayed or go on his way, no matter. Open missing child, homicide, and or likely abuse/neglect case closed for good.

PS. I suspect the missing kid got high on family's stash and OD'd, died, and they dumped the body.
