I didn't like their choice for Stacy Peterson. I don't think she looked like her. I thought the real girl was much prettier.

Either way, I didn't know what the real Stacy looked like but this actress pretty much nailed it as someone who first, thought Drew could do no wrong, then finally realized he is a murderer.

I remember seeing her picture all over. Stacy was very pretty. Casting this girl did her no justice. Like I said, Stacy was much prettier than this actress they got.
shareI agree with you there on that because I lived up near Chicago when this occured several years ago. I remember I believe Stacy was a brunette and not a blonde. That is Hollywood for you. They want to get an actress who is popular and do not care about trying to nail it right with how the real person looked like.

I believe the real Stacy Peterson was a brunette or it might have been the wife before Stacy. It has been several years since I saw picures of the wives. They had it all over the news and newspaper when I lived up near Chicago.

One picture of Stacy looked like it was her driver's license photo, not very flattering.

shareI met Stacy Peterson about 7 years ago. She was a very pretty girl, but she was also very young looking. When I met her, I thought she was about 14 or 15 years old. Probably because she was very petite and had braces. But I've seen the many photos of her and believe me, she was much prettier in person than her photos portray.

^^^ It takes all kinds. My cousin was with a real blimp for a few years who ended up screwing over his friends, family and just about everyone in his life and he's always had good looking girlfriends. I asked my cousin once "what's the appeal?" she said "he talks a good game".
As for the OP's question, I think the casting choices for this movie were hilarious. Not just because Rob Lowe playing Peterson but Kathleen Savio didn't look close to the actress who played her.

I understand that Lifetime probably didn't throw a ton of money at the filmmakers of this film but they could've done a quick google search to know that Stacy Peterson's eyes were brown and that she was a brunette.

The real issue I had with the movie was the technology involved. When the movie begins it's basically the end of Kathleen's marriage to Drew and that had to have taken place anywhere from 2002-2003. Kathleen was found dead in the bathtub in March 2004. My point? Who had HD TV's then? The same thing happened when Drew threw Stacy into the tv, it was an HD tv. This was also apparently towards the end of their relationship when she started to figure out he was psycho so that had to have been anywhere between 2005-early 2007. Most people I know didn't have HD TV's until at least mid 2008-2009, don't get me wrong, they existed and people had them but it wasn't as widespread. There was even one in their bedroom in the movie, that's the way a modern bedroom would look now, not almost a decade ago. I know Drew wasn't exactly poor either but I'd have to see photos from the inside of the house to determine how accurate but I just have a feeling they're way off. Also, I didn't like the way Kathleen was portrayed early on. She seemed to take offense to everything. I was scratching my head going "who's side am I supposed to be on again?" but then she appeared to have gotten more likeable right before her last scenes. My point? They made her look like a shrew. Don't get me wrong, I understand being mad if you suspect your spouse of cheating but she seemed to just accuse him out of nowhere without any proof most of the time. Has Kathleen's family commented on it? I'd hate to be portrayed that way. I'm sure she was a lot kinder and more mellow in reality. The filmmakers took a lot of creative license with this movie for sure.
