Whitewashing war crimes

Oh. So even though The Americans were responsible for some of the most heinous atrocities committed in Iraq - for some reason the nominal 'hero' in this movie is a white straight yank - that's a bit like making a Holocaust movie and making the hero of the flick a Nazi commandant in charge of Auschwitz! Geez they're really desperate to cover up their war crimes aren't they, these 'muricans?

Strange you pictured him being a 'Hero'.
I figure him being a regular grunt that finally broke through to the 'evil' side. Nothing especially heroic about that. Also, unfortunately, a very human behavior and I am not the one to cast sole blame on him for breaking to the 'evil' side under those conditions.
