The protagonist is stupid

One of the first things he gets told by his "instructor" is that they tortured an innocent guy so much that he admitted to some crime he did not commit.
Yet when Silent Bob after days of torture admits some crime he immediately believes it and turns into a vile torturer himself.

Well, he barks at Silent Bob and Silent Bob replies with "They weren't innocent".
So if he didn't have anything to do with it, he surely didn't help his case there.

(and I say 'case' in a very loose sense, since the people at AG probably is stuck in a similar illegal limbo like those at Guantanamo).

But that was after who knows how many hours of torture where that was probably drilled into his head. If a collegue of the torturers asks him right after the torture a similar question it is likely he would still say anything to avoid further torture.
