I found this film to be interesting.
In response to "films are for entertainment", most people in the industry are well versed in the various types of films; the general public may be or not, for instance a documentary or training film vs "Raiders of the Lost Ark" - the quality of the film and the care that went into it has nothing to do with the intended audience.
This film intrigued me because I found no conflict resolution, we are left with making assumptions. For example, what happened after the boys discovered Ian? What happened after the cinder block incident? Was Daisy eventually killed? Was Ian's father the pet-killer, hence his telling Ian no one should know he possessed the pistol? Why is Tristan suicidal?
This film definitely made me think more than would most films.
