Actually, it is a big deal. Say what you will about actors (and their choice of film work) like Madsen, Eric Roberts, Gary Busey, etc. Attaching their names to a project means the odds of the film getting any sort of decent distribution goes up exponentially. Maybe Madsen isnt doing too many Oscar nominated flicks these days, but his name holds a status in the market place. Slap his name above the title and the odds of getting a small indie film picked up by a distributor go way, way up.
