This is the Philippines' Oscar entry

I like a few other films better but this is a solid entry. It's about filmmaking so AMPAS may find it appealing.

I have doubts it'll make it to the five nominations, but it's going to the Berlin International Film Festival in Germany to be held Feb. 9-19. It will participate in the Forum section of the Festival. In the article I've read today it says the Forum section :

........celebrates avant-garde, risk-taking, experimental works ;
........it awarded the the Caligari Prize to Filipino filmmaker
........Brillante Mendoza for 'Tirador' in 2008.

I think it will have more chance to be recognized there.

The satirical touch, it's cinematic commentary - I took it as disapproval - about some indie films emphasizing abject poverty of the Philippines, knowing some European's strange (to me at least) fascination for it. The garbage dumps and its scavengers .... Also the spoof of movie stars exercising their clout to interfere with scripts. Eugene Domingo was excellent in the featured title.
