American Assassin's Twitter page (@VinceFlynnFilm) posted the first picture of Dylan O'Brien as Mitch Rapp. They've hinted at more pictures soon to follow.

as a woman i must say really happy about it 😍. i mean i'm a DOB fan and he looks really hot but...

i've been told here that Mitch Rapp is supposed to be like any other normal guy. Yeah, DOB as that type of face, with age he's lost most of his pretty boy looks and is more of an above average guy than a really attractive one but he seems to be getting a lot of muscle.

you can see it through the shirt and those veins...isn't he supposed to be of an average fitness? that's not how an average guy looks like!

i mean, i really like it but aren't they doing it to also attract girls instead of just the men that usually go for these type of movies? i like these type of movies (always imagine it's me shooting my boss) but most of my girlfriends won't go watch this. but if there's a hot guy...they might.

there's the bourne movies which pleanty of women went to see because...what woman doesn't like seeing a Matt Damon shirtless?!

Dylan looks gorgeous in that photo! The first day I saw it I was literally overheating while looking at it.

He does have decent muscle tone but he still overall looks lean, which is perfect for Mitch in American Assassin. He's supposed to be a very attractive, very athletic, 23 year old. They made the perfect decision in casting DOB in my opinion.

I wouldn't say he's supposed to be of average fitness. Mitch is highly athletic, so a little above average fitness is required, which Dylan has. He's not exactly buff, but he certainly has a visible strength to him. Actually, I've noticed that some fans of the books are saying he looks too small and overly pretty to be Mitch Rapp. They think he needs to gain at least 20-30 pounds and have a more rugged face. But based on the descriptions from American Assassin, which I'm currently reading, they're wrong.

i mean, i really like it but aren't they doing it to also attract girls instead of just the men that usually go for these type of movies?

They are definitely going after women with their choice, which is smart in my opinion. It's reasonable to assume that if the trailer looks good, men will go see this film because of the subject matter. So the production team are probably assuming they will automatically have a high male viewership, which seems very likely. By casting DOB they are all but guaranteeing a much higher than expected female viewership. Especially if he looks as good in the trailers as he does in that picture.

oh, don't get me wrong. i think he looks really hot in that photo. but then DOB always photographs beautifully.

i'd forgotten that he's supposed to be in a track team in college, so yeah...i'm guessing the body type is correct.

about the 20-30 pounds more that people are saying he should have...why do people immediately think that assassisns are overly physical? They just shoot you at a distance. Why do you need to have that much muscle mass?

until Daniel Craig came along, james bond wasn't very physical - i mean in terms of muscle mass. most of the actors before him weren't that much in shape. Some were definately elegant but others...i mean roger moore for heavens sake!

and i think they're definatelly going after both genders with the DOB choice. i mean, the guy has a fan base that has plenty of men in it. mostly because he isn't the pretty muscled guy that guys love to hate (think 3 Chris'). besides he seems to be really down to hearth and an all around nice guy so...he appeals to everyone :)

hope the movie does well. i sure am gonna see it. we all know how well DOB can play the cold hearted and indifferent characters :)
