If I had the rights to Vince Flynn's books...

I would cut a deal with Netflix, Amazon, HBO or Showtime and make a long-term series. The problem with most movies is you only have about 2 hrs. to tell a complex story with complex characters. With a series, the characters can be developed and the story can follow more closely to the book. I think the movie will be a HUGE disappointment to Vince Flynn fans, particularly if Hollywood follows it's PC tendencies and miscasts like they often do.

been saying it for years! Completely agree, think i even mentioned on the boards once.

Jack Ryan is moving to Amazon as a series. Always thought this should have been the case for the books.

I agree, they should have read his books in order and then figured out who would be the best actors to portray the characters from the book(s). I will not see the movie because of this.

I agree, but I've been following the movie on social media and I think they're doing their best to stay true to the character. Some plot changes are obvious, Vince's writing was so good, which is why those scenes are so intense. But I can't imagine Mitch's first kill in Istanbul sitting on a park bench on the big screen then being all that exciting, then him running away, having to limit his speed since a guy running a 5 min mile would be too suspicious.

As a fan, what I want to see is those first 19-20 or so chapters where Mitch gets dropped off as Hurley's place, he and Hurley are alone talking. Stan is pissed and Mitch challenges him to a fight. I want that fight to be as accurate as possible and then the interactions with Mitch and Victor (So stoked for Scott Adkins in this role) which will lead to their fight when Mitch takes him out of action and dislocates his arm.

I'm assuming in order to be fast paced, his training will be shown as flashbacks throughout the movie, But like I said, I want to see those scenes on the big screen. They are some of my favorite scenes in the franchise.

The rest of the plot, with the bad guy Taylor, and the new chick are all a way to make the movie more exciting and I'm ok with that.
