I'm impressed!

I hope this series lives up to the first episode.

So am I. I watched the first episode twice! Gabriel Byrne is outstanding in a outstanding cast. He has such a pleasant voice to listen too.

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?

The second episode was as brilliant as the first. This bodes well for what may well be the best new programme on television.

I agree with you, Jocktampsonsbairn. I've been enthralled by the first two episodes. I like the complexity of the story, and the acting is absolutely first-class.

What puzzles me is the reaction to it. Many of the regular TV critics seem to be ignoring it almost entirely, and some viewers seem to be writing it off as dull and boring, which is quite extraordinary to me. True, it requires concentration, and a bit of thought ... perhaps that's the problem.

I'm very much looking forward to the next two episodes.

Is there a way for us to watch this in the US?
I would love to watch this show.

Re: I'm impressed'. I wasn't!

It's got nothing to do with the concentration levels - I have thoroughly enjoyed all the 'Nordic noir' series on BBC4 and can concentrate perfectly well on complex plots. What I can't abide is ridiculous scenarious and stock characters and this is stuffed full of both. I'm all for suspending disbelief but this is ludicrous.

Do those who admire this, really think the deputy PM would be sent to be harangued by distraught and angry parents ....... in a school hall? Er security anyone?

Do those who admire this really think that the head of Security does her own surveillance work?

I've made those points in my review. The whole thing is aimed at teenagers who think what they see on television passes for reality.

If the head of MI5 is going off the reservation - sort of the point of the show - she might be pounding the brickworks.

reply

Doesn't seem to be beyond the bounds of credibility to me that the deputy PM should have been sent in to talk to the victims. And didn't he have security with him? - there's been a police bodyguard stuck to his leg since the start.

If you mean the head of MI-5, I haven't the faintest. And for the sake of the work her organisation does, I hope you haven't either- unless you happen to be a member of her staff!

Clearly, you don't enjoy it, and equally clearly, others do. That seems pretty reasonable to me. :)

you send in the deputy pm to give the false impression that you care more for the people than you do for the politics. anyone remember the deputy pm being egged & punching the culprit? security anyone?

trashing books is like the Special Olympics even if you win & burn them all you are still a retard.

reply

Did you not see all the TV coverage of Sec of State for Health - Andrew Landsley - or the Chief Whip - Andrew Mitchell - being door stepped and harangued by the public in Whitehall?

reply

This is awful, dreadfully slow and boring
