TWO SISTERS AT THE END

Did you see the two sisters who look like Djuna and Mimi but much younger dancing at the end of credits? What does it mean?

reply

It's a flashback, indicating they were happy once.

I have a theory about this. I think yes, it was to show that they were happy once, best friends. But I also think there is unrequited love there from one sister to another, my guess from Mimi. It's makes their intense dislike of each other and obsession with each other make sense. Makes her coming on to Paulo make sense in that she's trying to wreck their relationship and make Djuna hate him because she knows they're in love and Mini is jealous.

That's and interesting take. I do recall when Mimi shows up she says to Djuna, "It's interesting to see you with a man." which you could certainly read as Djuna having been involved with women (or a woman before). She needled her further about some prior guy, doesn't mention any woman.
