Very influenced by 'The Hunger'?

It seems to have been done by filmmakers who were huge fans of "The Hunger". From the music, to casting, to a retro feel while set in the present.

I was actually thinking that when I first saw the posters. I definitely think Casavettes purposely made "Kiss of the Damned" tonally similar, from the use of classical music interlaced with the score to the opulent and sterile set design.

very influenced by/tonally similar = ripped off

Kiss of the Damned has a stylish quality, as does 80s-era The Hunger, but Kiss of the Damned's "retro feel" references an earlier era of vampire cinema -- the late 60s and early 70s.

I liked the movie, Im a vampire fan. The hunger was an amazing movie stylistically speaking. And the music was amazing bot the clasic and the soundtrack.

Djuna is quite a paralel character to Miriam Blaylock's even so, I can totally think that Xenia and Miriam have attended each other's performances.

The dresses that Djuna uses and her hairdo is quite similar. And Damn that guy Milo is hot.

Admittedly the movie could have been better, the vampires were not believable, like: Mommy Xenia please take my sister away bu hooo.

And the "golfclap" like was so stupid. Like yeah thats idiotic. The scene where Xenia has the blond hair and receives praises was weird.

The temptation scene was interesting but, far too dramatic, like yeah guiltridden vampires I get it.

The softcore sex was nice, but would have liked to see much more sex, from Milo Ventimiglia.

I didnt liked much the Deus ex machina ending, I would have liked a direct confrontation between Djuna and Mimi, vampires are supernatural hunters they can wreak havoc when angered. But Djuna seemed so freakingly frail! So much she pisses when pushed over. Like WTF.

The Variety review said it was a tongue in cheek salute to old school vampire movies like The Hunger.

So that's what the Variety review said -- but what do *you* think?

I think they were spot on.
