The rape scene doesn't make any sense

I get that the doctors host these messed up parties. And I get that they want to try to get Mary in on their little club. But what I don't get is how Dr. Grant think the right way going about it was to drug her and then rape her.

Keeping in mind, this is a university professor. Sure he may be a freak, but why in the hell does he think he can drug+rape one of his students and not have any worry about what she might do when she wakes up, which by the way was right next to him in the same bed the morning after! I guess it would kind of make sense if they intended to kill her so there would be no witnesses/evidence if she goes to the police. But he acts like it was no big deal?? I just don't understand.

Otherwise, very good movie.

100% agree. That's the first thing that came to my mind when I saw that scene. He was so nonchalant just lying there like it was casual and nothing happened...weird.

He wasn't really a professor, just a doctor that lectured at a university. He thought she was a prostitute on the side, also he probably figured his position of authority secured his safety.

This was all I could assume too. He makes a comment about her new clothes etc, so I guess he assumed she was a high class hooker earning some extra bucks, this being the case why was she drugged ? Being a paid hooker suggests you are there at your own will, so why would they drug her ?

I agree with all.

But it's particularly stupid drugging a Doctor. Who can subsequently quite easily acquire proof.

I think it is one of those things that is not worth spending much brain power on. It was a plot "technique" or whatever it is called, to set the course of the movie. Consider also how they noted the death of Nana by her deleting the number in her cell-phone... just plot keys to get the story moving along.

I don't think the doctor was right in the head. Not only did he rape her but he kept choking her in the process. I don't think he was concerned with the consequences. He probably thought she would not report him because of his position and her needing to do well to become a surgeon.

It also seemed that this was a group effort that they did more than once. They probably back each other up stating she was hitting on him or given consent. Not sure if there are any drugs that couldn't be detected or proven to have knocked her out before giving consent.

It may also be possible he thought she was doing something illegal and could blackmail her if she tried to press charges.

Even with modern science women are still getting raped at parties so I can suspend disbelief enough that he was willing to rape her.

This film obviously takes place in some kind of surreal world. It's evident from the first scene where the teacher is using the f-bomb to his students. Totally over-the-top.

I found this film surprisingly good, considerong most horror films nowadays are quite rubbish.

However, the one problem I did have with this film was Dr Grant constantly dropping the f-bomb as well as most of the rest of the cast swearing. It became really annoying to hear.

Otherwsie, like I put, surprisingly good horror film since it does tap into a very creepy aspect of modern society: Cosmetic surgery.

Careful what you say to me. I will argue with you forever. I enjoy trying to prolong arguments :D

Welcome to the real world. Do you have any idea how many rapes go unreported every day? A *beep* load. Women are scared/shocked/humiliated/confused after being raped. Some try to bury it so they don't have to come to terms with it. Others are convinced they'll never be believed and have to go through a humiliating witch hunt of a trial. Some are afraid their attacker will retaliate if they go to the authorities. For a whole host of reasons reality is men get away with this every single day.

Why do people so frequently get told to read the book on a movie database?

And I'd imagine rape committed by those that are in position of authority are among the top underreported.

Well said! With today's victim-blaming, it makes reporting even more difficult. "But did you SEE what Mary was wearing?!?!" 
