Season 3 review. (possible spoilers)

Big fan of Lilyhammer, loved the first two seasons and I enjoyed season 3 alot aswell however it just felt so disjounted.

It started well enough with the cheerleader prostitute story but there wasnt really enough there for it to be a main plot point. We never really found out anything about the one armed woman, her son or the rival gangsters they went to for help. Instead we just got Johnny tracking them down and then the one armed woman getting killed. What even happened to the son and brothel owner? This was just a basic storyline with no deeper plot that could have been made more interesting.

There was also the paris hilton type lady in the first two episodes who refused to help the farmer cause it was too cold and she just lay on the sofa. As far as I know she added nothing at all to the story in anyway, she never interacted with any of the crew and didnt affect the plot in anyway. I can only assume that she had a storyline somewhere that was cut and they needed to keep those parts in the first two episodes to make up the minutes.

The Brazil storyline was also pretty dull and predictable.

The breast milk killer introduction was just really weird, he hadnt been mentioned at all for the first half of the season and then just appears, there wasnt really much build up to the resolution.

The prostitute storyline got resolved within 4 episodes so then they introduced new plot points that were good enough to be used over a whole season, both the rival club with Tommy storyline and the Torgeir visions thing were good and could have been used throughout the 8 episodes alongside the Jan storyline and the skiing without needing the brazil or prostitute plots.

It just seemed like the writers didnt really know how to flesh out the storylines so just decided to resolve them at the first possible chance and start new ones. Jan's storyline ran the whole of the season and that was probably the best part of it. Its not as if the first two seasons had loads of things going on in them, they worked a few basic storylines with good character development and humour and it worked.

For me they should have scrapped the brazil, breast milk killer & cheerleader storylines and just made Torgeir's storylines, the rivarly with tommy and Jan's storylines stretch throughout the 8 episodes.

Still really enjoyed the 3rd season all in all, just felt a little confused by some things and alot of the conclusions were anticlimatic. The final episode with Bruce Springsteen was great and i would like to see another season. However I dont think it would work without Torgeir since hes almost as important as johnny to the show. Hopefully if they do do season 4 he is involved.

i agree, i loved jan's storyline, he was such an interesting character, and since we never actually saw him die, I'm hoping for his return in season 4 (if there is one, i hope)

the brazil storyline was pretty lame, but the tommy vs frank storyline was epic. i wish tommy didn't die since he was a really cool character so we can see more of him in season 4, which again, hopefully there even is one. (I'm sure torgeir will be back too)

overall, this show was really awesome, enjoyed it so much. binged watched it, and was really sad when it ended

Season 3 was my favourite so far but I also wish they'd run a whole season arc with the same antagonist. Season 2 they set up the English guys as a main threat but killed them off quickly and they did the same with the (Lithuanian?) gangsters Season 3.

If Torgeir is back in Season 4 and still having hallucinations of dead people I think we will definitely see Jan in an episode. I'd love to see Geir back in a hallucination as well, though that's more unlikely.

They should have dropped the Brazil subplot completely and had the blonde Franky tried to save from the beating be the love interest. They also should have had Tommy get involved with the Lithuanians.
