What's with the bands?

Every episode since he opened the club has spent time showing whatever band is playing. It's to the point where it feels like it's in a contract or something where each band maybe pays to get a few seconds of airtime. I'm not syaing it's wrong, I'm not a fan of the music but it just feels really forced at times. But I'm not Norwegian so I have no idea who these people are. Are they local bands, are they popular Norwegian bands?

Total guess here but Van Zandt is a big music guy (In the Rock and Roll hall of fame). Singer/writer/producer, so I'm assuming that probably has something to do with it. Give a little exposure to some bands or something.

... adding the fact that Van Zandt is Music supervisor and composer on the show, I think you are right.

Van Zandt and Springsteen and others from that era came up through the bar scene. This has got to be a great way for local bands to gain exposure since it's very hard nowadays in the world of image and auto-tune.

A number of Van Zandt songs have appeared, including unreleased ones. At least two Springsteen songs have appeared. And then Gary US Bonds, whose career was extended by Springsteen and Van Zandt shows up in Lilyhammer at The Flamingo. Always a plus.

This series always has a keen eye for good musicians/bands, and I love it. Probably down to Van Zandt.
The bulk of the bands/musicians are locals, often up and coming (as with the piano playing girl from the closing of Series 1, Ingrid Olava.

In Cod we trust.
