any other good TV shows based in Europe?

So just finished watching all seasons and was enjoying different environment (not so much enjoying story in S3) than usual American and British, are there some other good TV shows you can recommend? I don't mind subtitles but I am sick of crime/police and especially supernatural TV shows unless it's on comedy level like in Lilyhammer.

I got bored with American tv as well. If you haven't seen Luther from BBC check it out. It is a police drama but very well written.

Also Reina del sur on Netflix. If you can deal with the subtitles, the show spans north and south America to europe.

I knew Luther is British. That guy is awesome. I did not know the show was British so I dismissed it another one of those crappy crime TV shows.

I think I might watch it now.
Thank you

The Bridge. All of them.

If you can find it, try Dag. Another Norwegian based dark comedy. I'm hooked

Try Misfits (2009).

It's black (like say Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), and raunchy humor (on par with There's Something About Mary (1998))

And it's absolutely brilliant. At least the first three seasons.

i liked misfits (at least first few seasons), but i said i am looking for shows in environment different than US or UK, i don't mind if it's US or UK TV show if they choose different location

reply

Ah, locationwise and the environment. Thought you meant different from the more generic American shows. No offense to them, some of them are very good. But usually if you've seen one, you've seen them all.

The problem is that anytime somebody makes a really good show, Hollywood usually remakes it and turn it into that generic line, while making the original... well already seen.

The only exceptions would be those who wouldn't pass the censors on general tv Misfits (2009) or offend too many patriotic (or religious) or any other groups of viewers, like Blackadder Goes Forth (1989). It seems most networks are scared of a good satire.

MTV tried to remake skins... that was never going to work in america.

off the top of my head i can only think of one other tv show that fits the bill, the returned its a french drama about people that come back from the dead

There is already an american remake of it though heh

A good one is "the kingdom" - it mixes comedy and the supernatural.

Well Being Human is supernatural, but I don't know if you saw it. The British version, of course. There were some funny, quirky parts. I loved it.
