Was that real or a hallucination? The way his figure faded out into light when he turned away made me think it was merely a hallucination or daydream, like the montage of daydreams that immediately follows.

If it was real, was Sylvia (her campaign on his behalf) partially responsible for getting Campion there? Was she deliberately trying to undermine Christopher's authority and credibility?
