(spoilers)I don't believe cops would let suspect out of their sight...

close to the end when he burns up his coat, tape, gloves, etc. in his fireplace. What's to keep him from going into his room and pulling out gun(s) and killing them all...

I thought they would have at least gone in the house with him. He only rented a room, if the landlady said the cops could be on the premises in the common use areas I'm surprised they didn't do that.

And where was the landlady when he was burning the clothes

I too wondered about the officers doing that. Then again if the home ownder was not there to allow them inside they certainly were not going to be let in by the man. I would like to know if that was factual or just for the movie. Also wondered why they didn't smell or see smoke from the fireplace from the burning articles. I lived near Newport OR, his hometown, for some years and the case always fascinated me since we knew a man who had known Woodfield. It was wonderfully done, first time in ages I've sat down to Lifetime movie for two hours at that. Excellent casting.

I actually didn't understand what violation they arrested him on and why didn't they just arrest him on the spot? And I was wondering how realistic it was when the female cop was saying she wouldn't contact the judge. I mean, I could see her being reluctant if they didn't have very mych but she came off as very beligerant towards them like the suspect was her brother or something. And really, why wouldn't there be a back up for a judge while he/she is on vacation? Do they just let criminals get away while the judge goes fishing? Just my two cents :-).
