Liked the movie; hated the premise

There's been a subgenre of BBD woman's-perspective romantic dramas that have come out in the last 5 years or so. This one is in the same vein a la Take This Waltz with the poor woman quietly brooding over a peaceful-yet-boring relationship in silence and pining for better options.

1.) Emmie was kind of bitchy. In the first failed love scene, I think her husband was politely trying to tell her she smelled like a dog.

2.) Emmie secretly hanging onto an old relationship throughout her marriage.

3.) Emmie could've made up any excuse to head home alone, but chose to run off, then came back expecting hubbie to be there as her backup plan.

4.) Completely emotionally crushing the ex-boyfriend. He's held on to her the entire time, she teases a date to rekindle the relationship, then shows up and stomps his guts out.

I liked the movie mostly for the other characters. Frog boy was annoying as he was irresponsible, but I loved all the other minor characters from Grandma to the brother to the parents who seem to know how to fight in a marriage without it becoming self-destructive.

I think it deserved way more than the 5 stars it's currently showing. I gave it 7 and I really disliked the lead (love me some Robin Tunney though).

Amy: I swear to God...I swear to God! That is NOT how you treat your human!
