Recently i've noticed many indian movies ascending to IMDB 250. Some of them like 3 idiots is undoubtedly undeserving, that's the reason why many imdb users are making fun of bollywood. Let us take Gangs of Wasseypur to 250 list to show them that we are not behind any other movie industry.

GOW has been crossed 20,000 votes and hopefully very soon it will be in top 100 IMdb movies. :)
Yes me waiting for GOW to get to top 250 soon. By the way swades has also come in top 250 list currently on #237.

if people are making fun of bollywood they are idiots, so what!
and a lot of people like those movies.
dont take a film to the top250 just because of that reason!
give the movies ratings they deserve in your eyes.
if you think it is one of the best movie ever made, give it a 10 or a 9,
then it should be a piece of art and culture like films mady by fellini, bergman, coppola and so on.
an enrichment for all time.
10 is perfect, 9 is nearly perfect.
if you really think so, that this is an important film for the whole mankind then give it the 10
no problem, its your subjective opinion
give it a 8 when you think its a very good, amazingly entertaining movie, already 8 means extra-ordinary excellent movie.
but dont give it a 10 because you wanna show westerners that there are some "good" indian movies.
good and very good is 7 or 8!
and you shouldnt overrate movies just because of patriotic feelings
btw. i have seen "3 idiots"… its different then western movies (and it should be that way),
but - though you say, its not so good - i had fun by watching it.
with this indian version of "tom hanks" ^_^
(though i am not sure about him, sometimes he is sympathic, sometimes not… anyway thats not the subject…
i had fun with it.
it was a new experience for me.
not in a way of art, which means such a movie never would be able to get a 10 in my votings,
(not even a 9, to be honest)
but it was fun in a way of mainstream entertainment
gangs of wasseypur is still in a indian style but it tries to be more like a film of the western world
and i think it failed in that way.
i was hoping for a indian "city of gods" and i think that was also the goal of the filmmakers.
"3 idiots" was not amazing, but i had enough fun with it

the following is subjective ;-)
its much too long, the story has a lot of passages which were boring,
some actors are not so well,
the story is missing the direction
the gangsters dont even had weapons the first half of part1 ^_^
not so easy to understand why all people were afraid of them.
gangsters without weapons?! ^_^ really?!
and when they have them, they are somewhat cute by using them.
for a genre-film that was quite strange.
"strange" means different and often it can be good, but in this case,
a genre movie, it was definately a killer argument.
who shall be afraid of those people?!
it is so long that you are getting used to the characters, that you get interested what is happening with them, but that has nothing to do with quality. the same effect like in tv-series or other films with overlength….
sorry! in my western eyes it cannot be compared to such great films like "godfather" or "city of god", far from that.
but its just in my eyes, which doesnt mean that my opinion is the "right one"… ;-)
in my eyes its at least one step behind any mafia film made in hollywood, whoch means it is behind of godfellas, scarface, godfathers and so and so on. There is a long list of well made hollywood gangstermovies and americans - tht must be said - are quite good in this genre. but still….! a lot of these films got a rating of 8 (even a 7) by me.
if i a am kind to this movie, it would get a 7 by me
if there wouldnt be so many other not so well done points
i am sorry, i dont think it deserves a 10, which means a mark for all future films for all time

maybe it is an amazing movie for someone from india,
for me - coming from europe - it was not.
(i also love some austrian movies (my country), but i know that even germans wouldnt understand why this films are so much loved by austrians. though they are speaking the same language they wouldnt be able to understand it. maybe we have the same here)
its obvious that indian film industry is doing huge steps towards internationality,
though i am not sure if it is that good.
they shouldnt make films like hollywood, we already get a lot of mediocre *beep* from them.
there is no need to copy hollywood.
Bollywood should stay at its own identity.
the world dont need another copy of McDonalds
regional food is so much better
and… its possible to make good gangster-movies in a own non-hollywood-style. "City of God" is an amazing example for this
