Hi, so is there anybody out there actually shipping Kiera and Alec?
After all they have been trough.... let me know!
:)

Here come the drums....

That would be weird.Shes too old for him in the present and too young for him in the future.

And Laurence Harvey was only three years younger than Angela Lansbury, the actress who played his mother, in the original 1962 version of the Manchurian Candidate.

While the actor who was cast to play young Alec may be in his late twenties, his character was supposed to be a boy-genius teenager in season 1. In his TV interview in season three he has recently turned 20.

How old is Kiera supposed to be? Old enough to have first served in the Army, then joined the CPS, and bore a child who is about 8 years old. So, about 30, maybe 35.

There are worldly 18 year old kids, for whom a relationship with an unworldly 30 year old is not that much of a stretch. But Alec isn't one of them.

I agree that an Alec-Kiera relationship seems unlikely, even if there were four more seasons, not four more episodes.

reply

Actors ages aside when the show started Alec was a boy genius still living at home with his mom.I'd guess his character was between 18 and 21.I couldn't say Keira's exact age.But she was old enough to have a son between 7-9 years old.Which would mean she'd been married for around 10 years.Which character wise would put their age difference somewhere in the double digits.

reply

Oh my, where to start?

My wife hired a young 16-yr old girl, and found out she had a 1-yr old baby. Later on, and one more baby by a different father, she graduated high school with honors, and planned to join the military. And she was married when she had the first baby, and divorced shortly after.

During the Vietnam era, draftees only served two years, 'ordinary enlistees' served four years, and specialty enlistees served six years. So, military service could be just two years.
(I heard some of the 4-yr enlisted were offered bonus money to leave early when Vietnam wound down, BTW, and there probably wasn't as much need for helicopter mechanics and pilots either.)

Also, a "boy genius" these days may be smart enough to stay living in his Mom's house, so he can buy all that expensive "tech" gear he had, easily surpassing 21 if amassing money wasn't important to him, (then). There is also the term "boomerang kids" for the ones that go out on their own too soon, and have to come back home to live after they fail, or decide to no longer stoop to doing what might pay the bills.

Their ages could be closer than you discussed.
Then too, the show was obviously set in the future, and who knows what social norms could change by then.

reply

She's a woman, he's a man. No, it would not be weird.

reply

I've wanted them in bed together ever since I watched the first episode.

reply

In a strange way it would unify everything. Also, make sense of why Old-Alec was so fixated on her. Maybe he originally saw multiple timelines, or was himself the first time-traveller.

reply

Kiera and Garza have way more chemistry.

Revenge is the most important meal of the day.

reply

Now that i would watch.

reply

They have no chemisty at all. They constantly bitch and moan at each other, and I'm tired of Garza's 'you are such a goodie goodie' complaints about Kiera just because she's unwilling to indiscriminately kill off everybody in the building like a crazy muslim.

Of course, when Lucas dies, suddenly Kiera is the selfish bitch blah blah blah look at me I'm the Queen of Ethical Behaviour.

I was actually praying for Garza to die instead of Lucas.

reply

OMG, Garza & Kiera have SO MUCH sexy chemistry!

reply

I've shipped them pretty much since day 1. I love their scenes together, and I think they have great chemistry. I would be surprised if it ever actually happened, but I would be really happy if it did.

reply

I really think they are heading that way now... let's see, Emily in is now gone...
The way she (Keira)told him, during diner "Alec, I'm impressed" and the way she looked at him - well, that was something :)

Now I really do think Keira is Jasons mother :)) if that is even possible!
That why they never could have mentioned her, until now that is.

Here come the drums....

That would be awesome. I've never even thought of that. Time-line wise it could be tough to make work, but considering that the show deals with time manipulation I'm sure the writers could think of some story line where it is plausible.

What if Alec is Kiera's dad? THEN WHAT???

Then? Then evil old Alec would know who she was.

I transcribed the conversation where The Traveler sent evil old Alec's consciousness, and naive young Alec's consciousness, to a featureless place outside of time. It inspires evil old Alec to initiate the time travel expedition we saw leave execution day in episode 1.1. Here is a key bit that establishes evil old Alec heard about Kiera for the first time in that meeting.

Naive Alec: (gasps) Of course; the message; Kiera;

Evil Alec: Kiera?

Naive Alec: Kiera Cameron, the one you ... (shakes head) never mind.

(animatedly)
Yeah, you made mistakes, but your instincts are right.
Time travel, the power to change things. It is not an experiment.
It is the answer.

Do it.

I blame George Lucas. Ever since Darth Vader told Luke Skywalker he was Luke's father, viewers look for far-fetched familial relationship in all kinds of movies and TV shows.

Could you please explain how Kiera could be Jason's mother when they were born about the same time? Jason looks about fifty in 2012-2015. Since he arrived in 1992, and lived and aged from 1992-2012, that would have put him in his late twenties or early thirties in 2077, when he was sent to the past. In other words, he was about Kiera's age.

Could Kiera travel to 2047, to bring Jason to term, then? Unlikely. It is very hard to imagine how she could return to 2077 on the branch of time she first left, just after the time sphere was triggered in the execution chamber. But, if she were to travel to 2037 or 2047, where she got it on with a middle-aged or senior citizen Alec, her arrival would trigger a fork, and any child she bore on THAT branch of time couldn't be our Jason, who was born on a branch of time where no Kiera arrived in the middle of the 21st Century.

Could Green Alec have harvested some of the ova from the corpse of Green Kiera, when he extracted her implants? Could he then have frozen them, and waited three or four decades to fertilize them with his own sperm, several decades in the future? Would that child grow up to be the Jason we know?

Absolutely not. First, Alec dissected Green Kiera with a reciprocating saw, like the ones sold at Canadian Tire or Home Depot. That is not conducuive to harvesting ova. Second, why would he do this? Third, and most importantly, that child could not possibly be our Jason. Jason, like Kiera, Kagame, and the other members of Liber8, was born on the branch of time that lead to Liber8. Kellogg didn't die when Travis murdered the doppleganger of his grandmother. Why, because his real grandmother is on the branch of time that lead to execution day. Our time travelers are one a new line, with a new future. If any of the time travelers get it on in the current branch that child grows up on this branch, not the branch that leads to execution day. No descendants born on this branch of time can ever be seen on the execution day branch of time.

Why would

reply

All they would have needed to do was to have Alec program the device to send Kiera forward to 2040ish where they would then be reasonably close to the same age.
Ideally to have set this up, when Alec asked Jason who his mother was. When he finally broke down - he should have said ... "it is Kiera, that is why you and I sent her back here"

First, why the hell would Alec suggest this, or Kiera agree to it? Suppose a moment comes, when Alec declares his love for Kiera, and, against any evidence to this effect, she wants him too. He says to her something like, "Hey future babe! You are so hot! I think I have to couple with you, right now! But instead of doing that I am going to risk your life, by sending you into the future. So we'll do it like on Animal Planet, in 2040! See you then!"

Second, you haven't done the math right. If he only wants them to be close in age, he only has to send her forward ten to fifteen years -- not 2040.

But, don't forget, Jason arrived circa 1992. He has lived in the past for 25 years. His apparent age in 2013 was about 45-50 years old. That is Ian Tracey's age. For him to leave 2077 at about 25 years old he would have been born in 2052 -- not 2040.

reply

Um, no she's like his mom and or granddaughter. I was shipping Kiera and Carlos, but sad day for me, NOTHING!!!

reply

This for sure, had Kiera not had a family those two would have easily hooked up.

reply

Rather not. She was like a sister to him and besides some prepubescent remarks about the hotness of her scifi dress, I doubt they would hook up.

Her and the hot hunk, maybe. I think it would have created problems working.

I rather would have seen her with someone else, if she had stayed. And Alec seemed to be happy with the wife he had "until the last moment".

reply

I feel you. I was shipping them since the first episode, despite Kiera already having a husband. I also don't like how the finale felt rushed, and that it did not elaborate on the outcomes of anyone.

Nah, that would be weird. Alec is a kid. Even if he is old enough, he doesn't look it. And he doesn't act it.

I can't see Kiera sleeping with Alec, or even dating him as a close friend. She is an adult and a mom, and he is just a kid.

It seems really weird thinking about them together.
