Man Bites Dog rip off.

I'm pretty sure that it was conscious. If you watch the movie, there's just no way Ashley didn't know of it, and probably wanted to pay homage to Man Bites Dog...to the point of excess, really.
But hey, the same thing could be said about Suzanne Collins when comparing the Hunger Games to Battle Royale. She claims she legitimately didn't know about it. Both are hard to believe, but not out of the realm of posibility.
Eh, I'll stick with "hard to believe" on both.

There's *no* question this movie blatantly plagiarized Man Bites Dog. There are entire scenes lifted straight from that film, there are even shots and edits so similar, it'd take the faith of a fundamentalist to believe this wasn't, in essence, a sub-par remake of Man Bites Dog, with no credit. Adding insult to injury, scenes, wardrobe and props are stolen from Taxi Driver too!
This film, Random Acts of Violence, isn't even in the same league as the well crafted Man Bites Dog. Don't waste your precious time watching this witless, aimless film with consistently pointless dialogue, instead watch the original and far superior film.
Hell, Criterion had/has(?) a version!
The filmmaker should be ashamed of himself, his theft is not just blatant, but morally repugnant. Considering the director of Man Bites Dog committed suicide, if the creator of this "film" was actually 'paying homage' why not put "inspired by...", or "thank you to...'" or even "dedicated to the memory of..." the late director in the credits? If he had, I mightn't have been so irritated?
And lastly, please Ashley Cahill, don't insult the audiences intelligence by pretending you didn't plagiarize from Man Bites Dog.
Man Bites Dog can suck it; that was one s**t film. Random Acts of Violence was definitely better.
