Pretentious and boring. 4/10.

Started off good, then turned into *beep*

What a detailed and thoughtful analysis.

Is anyone else tired of people complaining about a film being pretentious and boring? Is feels like so many people these days want things to happen in quick session, and anytime a film is different from the norm (such as being a bit surreal) it is labeled as pretentious.

I agree. I think a lot of people are spoiled by CGI etc. To me this is creepier. Mainly because it feels like it actually could happen.

Always be yourself. Unless you can be Batcatt, then always be Batcatt.

I will disagree with the OP as soon as anyone can explain what the movie was actually about.

What do you think it's pretending to be exactly?

We've met before, haven't we?

it seems pretentious and boring are the only 2 words most of the imbd users know, and then i doubt they know their meaning since they completely misuse them

The OP is merely using the same minimalism that is used extensively throughout this film.
True, it is frustrating... we don't really know the details as to WHY the OP didn't like this movie... but that same sense of frustration is what the director was trying to convey; frustration via emptiness , or frustration through minimalism.
Take your average N. American suburb for example. Besides all the billboards, fastfood restaurants and shopping malls, what does our society consist of, really? Nothing. It is empty.
Do you even know your neighbors? Have you ever talked to them longer that a few minutes?
