Continuing the series

This was one movie series that was incredibly intriguing. I hope they will find a way to continue the series. I feel like the best way would be to tell Haymitch's story. I mean we know his story, but they could make some films out of it.

A Haymitch prequel would certainly be interesting.

The thing is... Would Suzanne Collins (?) need to write it before it could be made into film? How does that copyright work?

reply

Good question! I would hope she would be interested in writing another book, especially if that's the order things need to fall in.

reply

There's probably an article drifting around somewhere on the Internet about whether she plans to do a prequel or not. I don't see why she wouldn't, though.

reply

I haven't seen anything to indicate that Collins has any interest in continuing the story. The books/films are really
Katniss' story and how her actions transform Panem, not the universe itself. I know a lot of fans would like new
films about Panem before or after Katniss timeline, but I would not be interested in a story that doesn't include
Katniss, who's story is complete.

reply

I would prefer a prequel as opposed to a continuing story, like the history of the games played out.

reply

Ooh... Maybe like the first games ever? When people had no idea wtf was going on?

reply

That would be perfect!

;3

reply

Not quite as far back as "the first games", but a new novel covers that ground -
"The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes"

reply

With particular emphasis on the snakes.

Did you read it/like it?

The only way to move this series into the future would be to have Catniss join the PTA for her kids local elementary school. Maybe have her end up shooting the PTA president because he had become too powerful. Then she'll need to be rendered unconscious yet somehow survive so that the next movie can include a scene where she wakes up, doesn't know where she is, then freaks out for no damn reason at all.

Or maybe they could scrape a story together 15 years later relating to Peeta's erectile dysfunction. Seriously, I think they pretty much tied things up with the flash forward 5 years scene with Peeta and the 2 kids.
