Why are you still complaining about HG/BR? It's over now... move on...

It sucks that still after four years people are still calling Hunger Games a Battle Royale rip off. I'm not going to make a case because we've all heard both sides of the argument, what I do want to know is why you're still so miffed about it? Call me crazy, I was just hoping to jump onto the IMDb board and read some comments people had about Mockingjay Part 2, maybe see if there was anything I missed and get some other opinions about it so I could have a rounded perspective on the movie (which I though was excellent - a worthy and visually spectacular adaption of a novel I'm somewhat mixed on.) I just don't understand why this is pretty much an argument faulting the movie and it just seems so vapid and weak.

This argument has been going on for over four years since the first movie and now that both the book and movie series is finished it's still every fourth or fifth topic in this board. Can't we just discuss the movie on it's own? We get it, you feel the series ripped off another movie you clearly respect, what I don't get is why you're still ripping on the similarities between the first book/movie and Battle Royale? We've reached Mockingjay and at this point the book/movie has reached an entirely new place in which a dystopian uprising is challenging it's current government, what does this have to do with Battle Royale?

Ultimately, I'm asking all the people who are still complaining about this to actually explain in writing what the problem is and why you still feel so cheated? Why is Mockingjay such a drag for you that you're still beating a dead horse with this same argument? Please help me understand because I legitimately want to know why this bothers you so. Offer a point of view that maybe I'm not considering, help me understand.

I remember seeing the president of Media Blasters / TokyoShock at an anime con in like 2006. He said they'd been trying to get the Japanese studio to license through their smaller label for bizzaro Japanese cinema for years. (Ichi The Killer, Tokyo Gore Police, Calamari Wrestler, Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad, Versus, and various other oddball, shocking, or just plain schlocky Japanese films have found a home there.) He said the trouble was that they had first shopped it to the major Hollywood studios for a wider release. And the studios and their legal departments were aghast. The response was so negative and fearful, that the Japanese studio itself became fearful of ever releasing it in the states in fear of getting sued in America and lose tons of money. So even with a smaller company like TokyoShock / MediaBlasters was hounding them for a smaller release, they were still too scared of a lawsuit. Well, now that Hunger Games is a bigger fish and more likely to get sued or maybe cleared the path for such films, we can finally Criterion US release of Battle Royale 2 in the Kenta Fukasaku collection. Though funny enough technology has advanced and BluRay is the same region in Japan and US now anyway. Still, nice to find a US release.
