The Rebels vs Peeta

I mean, Peeta days some Bad stuff about The Rebels, but, bei ng Rebels agli studenti Panem, should't they know that Peeta is bei g for ed to say what he is saying, that he is ignorant of what is happening outside Capitol? I mean, seeing tevrebels bashing against Peeta is only showing what a bunch of idiots they actually are.

I haven't read the books (yet)... But is it maybe explained?

Emotions run high among the rebels. So perhaps it is understandable that they don't
realize or discount that Peeta is speaking under duress. Katniss and Gale do understand.
Here is Gale's response in the book:
"He might have been tortured. Or persuaded. My guess is he made some kind of deal to
protect you(Katniss). He'd put forth the idea of the cease-fire if Snow let him present
you as a confused pregnant girl who had no idea what was going on when she was taken
prisoner by the rebels. This way, if the districts lose, there's still a chance of
leniency for you."(MJ pg 30).
