I am so tired of the BR trolls coming here and libeling Suzanne Collins

Hunger Games was a great series. Whoever heard of a writer plagiarizing someone else's story and writing a BETTER story than what they plagiarized? And not only better written (IMNSHO), but selling movie tickets like hotcakes?

BR trolls, zip it and go somewhere else. Everyone else here is too polite to say that, but I'm tired of your trash-talk.

Don't feed them then. Do what I do and report them as often as they post. Then ignore them.

did he [Director Lawrence] think that out of 1 billion people in America no one would know or find out about BR2? wtf

And here's my question: Out of one billion people in America, how many care about BR2? Seventeen?

I second the "it's called spamming" comment.

There were a ton of fans having real discussions about BR2 before the spamming. They are all on twitter or whatever. It's easy to have real conversations when it's like that, so unfortunately, the real fans stay quiet or are driven away. I too wish IMDB would do something, because it's not just people having different opinions. It's people purposely trying cover up Collins plagiarism. It's quite easy to tell the difference between the two.

Battle Royale 2 is the winner hands down! Just finished The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and it was a total rip off.

Yes, Twitter is the height of intelligent discussion...isn't it. 140 characters lends itself so much to intelligent conversation. If you are an example of 'the intelligent BR rip-off claimant', THG franchise has no need to worry.

At least they got right about Suzanne Collins copying Japanese films.

HINT: Watch the actual film before deciding for yourself if Collins is a world-class plagiarist or not.

reply

Mindlessness, thoughtlessness, ignorance and idiocy have no place in intelligent conversation...ever. So when a somewhat small (tiny) group of people simply spend their time repeating their delusions to each other, it doesn't count and is not important.

Oh and Imdb is the source of intelligent conversations and debates? I wouldn't be talking about twitter when there are plenty of idiots on here as well (such as Yourself)

reply

IMDB can be a source of intelligent conversation. I don't have a Twitter account and cannot comment on what is said there. I will leave that to those who do comment on Twitter.

The original “Battle Royale 2: Requiem” was also a massive flop. Why did they feel the need to recreate it with Caucasian celebs at the helm, anyway?

reply

Uh dumbass, the Manchurian Candidate was out in the 1962. WAY before BR2

Battle Royale is a realistic and gritty portrayal of humanity's dark side. Some have even gone so far as to describe it as a Lord of the Flies for a brand new generation.

The same can be said for THG.

Of course, if I were feeling trollish, I'd be yelling now, "BATTLE ROYALE PLAGGERIZED LORD OF THE RINGS, EVRIBODY KNOWS THAT!!!"

reply

[deleted]

The trolls are sort of annoying, but you can't blame people for feeling cheated, I mean whats the point of plagiarizing if your not going to improve or even change anything?

reply

[deleted]

Then aren't you lucky that BR wasn't worth copying?

Number one, Suzanne Collins says she never heard of BR, so how could she plagiarize it? "Simple, she's lying." Fine, I say, prove it.

Number two, a simple plagiarist, being too lazy to come up with an original story of her own, cannot improve on what she's plagiarizing.

reply

My ignore list has grown quite long because of that particular group of people coming to these boards and saying THG/Suzanne Collins ripped off BR.

I'm from Asia and I don't think I'm on his/her Ignore list.

Nice try, though.

Why does OP have to answer to both of us? I didn't even post a reply to OP yet.

Well, Mahmoud, the good news is, you're not on my Ignore list.

The bad news is, I'll never buy a used car from you. In my experience, people who accuse strangers of being thieves and cheats, with no evidence, are themselves thieves and cheats.

Have a good day.

There is a TV show called 'Spartacus', it debuted in 2010. I do believe that was sometime after 'Gladiator' the movie, and there was a second 'Manchurian Candidate' made in 2004. Anyone would think you deliberately want to look foolish with you dismissing everything you don't want to acknowledge. Unfortunately everything you are trying to ignore is out there already.

The 2004 Manchurian Candidate was just a remake of the original. It didn't borrow from wither Gladiator or BR. How the hell those films are even slightly like each other I can't fathom though.,

You're proving yourself to be more of an idiot with each post.

I never said 'The Manchurian Candidate' was like BR or THG. I simply pointed out that the 2004 remake was based on the 1962 film...which was based on the novel by Richard Condon. Pseudo_Nymph mentioned 'The Manchurian Candidate' for some strange reason, but then everything Pseudo_Nymph mentions is strange and has no basis in reality.

Personally I think Battle Royale II should just be left alone as it is... but i can not argue with people who obtain the legal rights to do so - like Universal, Justin Lin helmed to direct. However, Francis Lawrence (director of THG:CF) did appear on flashy press conferences declairing that the materials are his and his own. It ends up being a total rip off, then ...

reply

I think there should be a "Battle Royale III" because don't you remember the part in BR2 when the teacher got pissed off about the prime minister's comments. Well the prime minister is also behind the BR act.

Nanahara Shuya and Noriko still don't know that. They have to figure out how to stop the prime minister. They have to stop him. The only way they can do that is to kill him. THATZ WHY THERE HAS TO BE A "BATTLE ROYALE 3"!!! Hear me out people....

Agreed in general, although I wouldn't go so far as to say BR2 Sucked.

At the end of the day, Battle Royale 2's dvd/bluray sales in this country benefitted HUGELY from the publicity surrounding THG and all the "controversy" that BR2 fans stirred up. I sometimes wonder if it wasn't a deliberate marketing ploy, engineered by the producers and distributors of BR2.

reply

Look at it this way; despite the mudslinging from the BR fanatics;

1) Nobody else outside this board cares i.e. the rest of the world. But if the originators of BR1/2 actually had a case they would have already sued..... I note the sound of tumbleweed....
2) Suzanne Collins doesn't care what a few IMDB posters think and is laughing all the way to the bank

With these in mind, I generally ignore these threads and don't reply to trolls. 😀

Interestingly, plagiarism with Sci-fi (yes THG series is dystopian sci-fi albeit "YA") has surfaced in Hollywood. Having a similar idea is not uncommon and it all depends on the degree of similarity before someone has a "mea culpa" and pays out.

reply

Bear in mind that why it seems like there are a lot of BR trolls, most of them have vaguely sounding Muslim/Hindu names with an insult attached like "Mahmoud_Buttrumps" or "Diwali-Jumbonads" or "Iqbali_Noodlepaste".

In other words, they are almost all the same guy who has a jumbonad-on for Suzanne Collins.
