...that it's difficult to distinguish the passage of time in this film. This is very consistent with McCarthy's book. Any one else feel differently?

Those reviewers probably didn't read the book or they did and felt like the story didn't translate to film well. But you're right. If the idea is to be faithful to the book then it is correct but perhaps incorrect on film.

...this looked interesting and well made...but sound was very, very low for me...making it unwatchable.
