Is it me...or was this movie hilarious??

I think it's you. I didn't see any humor in it, dark or otherwise. It was relentlessly tragic.

Brilliant? Did you drop some acid before you watched it? This movie was horrible.

Agree with OP. The film is grim and relentless, but has some moments of jet-black humor. Perhaps five times (e.g., when Lester is shooting his stuffed animals), I found myself laughing.

Loads of dark comedy. A few examples.

1) Wiping you butt with a tree branch, why bother?

2)The nasty half naked hag in the woods. Funny in a WTF sense of way.

3) The black prisoner and his consoling comment to Lester, "white pu$$y is always trouble."

4) Struggling to carry his corpse girlfriend miles through the woods then another lengthy struggle to get her up a ladder in the shack. Soon he's shopping for a dress and undies not knowing her size. The clerk asks him "how much does she weigh?"

5) Watching the couple make love in the car he decides to join the party and make love to himself.

6) His drag costume when he went to assassinate the old man. The human wig was quite realistic.

7) Outsmarting the frustrated lynch mob in the cave.

8) Final scene, rebirth. He exits the cave as being born again from the Earth's vagina. Reminded me of the scene in Raising Arizona with the two prisoners exiting their escape tunnel while filthy and screaming in painful joy crawl out of the muck like newborn babies.




He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. Guy was an interior decorator.
