What make and model rifle does Lester carry in the beginning of the film

Is that a lever action Winchester? Looks like an 1873s. And what round would that use? Rim or center fire? Seems an awful clean piece for a guy that can't step around a creek to dry land only a few feet away while carrying a mattress. Also the shack has a well built chimney, yet see-through siding. Man, these production and set designers sure run fast and loose with reality. A decent lighting crew would not need such cheap tricks to imply stark setting.Not a chance in hell a man would build such a fine chimney and forget to seal walls and flooring. Details people, this ain't Hollywood...awww crap, it IS Hollywood. My bad.
