The more things change, the more they stay the same.

legislating morality always causes a clusterf@&k yet voters fall for it every time.

yeah. but when corporations fund 'grass' or 'k-bud' or 'pot' when it's legal they will put in the same shoe polish they put in tobacco to make people smoke more. what kills people smoking cigs isn't the tobacco. it's all the crap the corps. put in it. oh man.

"It's for the pain. Rarely touch the stuff...Can I have another?"

I'm thinking the tobacco is probably what's causing the cancer,m emphysema etc. Corporations don't want to kill off their customers faster than their product would normally do it. It's the heat; it ain't the humidity.

reply

No, it's definitely the carcinogenic cocktail of 43 cancer causers and 400 other toxins in every cigarette that causes the most cancer. You have to realize that cig corps. will put any sort of chemical in a cigarette to make a cheaper, more enjoyable product, regardless of side effects.

As for killing people faster, cig companies don't care if their customers die. They have an endless business as long as people keep growing up and smoking to fit in.

My guess is that there would be too much scrutiny of even corporate product for them to get away with that.

Plus, it's so easy to produce that I think it might be hard for a corporation to corner the market ala cigarettes.

And look at beer these days -- most liquor stores still have a ton of mass-produced corporate beer, but there's a hell of a lot of interest in local/craft/regional beers. Why wouldn't that same philosophy apply?
