Why did Ford hire Ken?
He kept insulting them and didn't bring anything to the company, he was rude to everyone, including his own clients when he owned a workshop, how did this man have a career?

shareDid you watch the movie?

That was his fucking wife! SJW jesus.
Watch it again.
The guy helped build the car that got them there and won the triple crown, were it not for the stupid Ford publicity stunt. Put America on the racing map.
Movies would be boring if everyone were polite all the time and everything went right. People weren't as sensitive back then and spoke their mind. How true to life any of the personality was, I don't know. Maybe Ford just wanted a pretty face or someone who would always shoot roses out their ass on camera.
You dont need to have good people skills to have good driving skills. In fact if you look at history most top performers in variuos fields tend to not have good social skills because their focus is somewhere else.
shareShelby... He knew Ken's true value to the racing team. Ford doesn't know racing, he knows business. Shelby convinced Ford that Le Mans could not won by committee. Ford relented and let Shelby pick his team.
A good anaolgy is a sporting team. A professional team will look past some of a players negative triats, if he can win games.
Shelby... He knew Ken's true value to the racing team.
People with expertise in a field often know how to spot talent.
Shelby's expertise was racing, both building fast cars and driving them. He spotted Ken as one of a kind.
Ken had a degree in mechanical engineering, knew how to push a car to it's limits and knew what those limits were. He also knew how best increase the limits.
These talents were on full display in the scene where Ken took the test car for a spin. He knew exactly what was wrong with the car and knew how it could be fixed. He also broke lap records doing it.
This type of man is not around every street corner.
>But what exactly was his value
He was, supposedly, literally the best driver in the world.
